BHS Cymru
The British Horse Society is the leading equestrian membership organisation in the United Kingdom and caters largely for the leisure riding public. It is also the governing body for professional qualifications for those wishing to teach in the horse industry. The specific aims of the Society are central to equine welfare and it achieves this by constantly striving towards improved knowledge through education, training and advice. The BHS aims to: Through its structure of Development Officers and regional and county committees, the BHS is able to lead centrally across a range of activities, affecting horses, riders and carriage drivers, particularly on access of rights of way, safety, welfare, training and examinations. Parliament and the civil service is constantly lobbied on issues concerning the horse world and the BHS actively participates on DEFRA’s Rural Affairs Forum for England. In order to deliver on the wide range of activities, the BHS relies on its members whose subscriptions fund the work.
